The Falanis
A small clan of Druids whose location was not well known to anyone but members of the Druid Conclave. The Falanis was small and secluded, but it's believed by many that the reason for their quiet life is that they lived in the Fey Woods to the north of the mountains. One day, tragedy struck, and creatures from the Plane of Chaos had rampaged through the woods before being cleared out-- extinguishing the clan in its entirety in the process. Their crest, an ellipse with a tree branch arcing over it with five 'berries', remains on the Sylvan Root's crest, even after the 20 years since their deaths.
Jackson has since revived the clan as one of the last remaining Falanis. They have resumed their stewardship of the Elemental Door and patrol Simuhay to ensure the cracks between the material and the elemental planes remain under control.
After seeing the benefits that his journey had on both his skill and his perspective, Jackson has all his apprentices go on a pilgrimage over all 4 plates. An arangement is made with a group that regularly travels through the plates to ensure the apprentices are not charged for the travel, and food and lodging are provided in an emergency, though the apprentices are encouraged to explore and aid the populace to acquire food and lodging. The pilgrimage serves the dual benefit of allowing the apprentices to rapidly grow in ability and broadens their horizons to give them the opportunity to determine if becoming a member of the Order is their true desire.
The Falanis ensure the borders of the material and elemental planes stay in balance. While some cracks are inevitable, sometimes the cracks widen into holes and it is in this case that the Falanis clan is contacted and Jackson ventures out to close it and clean up the damage. Additionally they handle more mundane disasters that require a druids touch.
The location of both the grove they reside in and the gate they guard is unknown to all but members of the Sylvan Root and the Falanis themselves. The magic protecting the grove and the gate was weaved over many years by Jackson, Fey, and other druid clans and is incredibly powerful as a result. Most of the uninvited who enter find themselves walking out, somehow having turned around in the mist without noticing it. The more persistant ones are quickly detected by the clan's network of tree and animal informants and are shown their way out.
Applications to the order are found by Leif or one of the other orders of the Sylvan Root and are shortly after interviewed by Jackson when next they fall asleep.
