The Sun Spirit's Liberation from Domiri Canire

20 years ago in Helios, the discovery of a hidden thieves' guild containing young Frelians, coupled with preexisting tensions between the fundamentalist Meridian Faith and the city-defending Stormchasers about Siebel the Sun Spirit's treatment, led to an outbreak of civil war within the city. The end of the conflict, the death of Domiri Canire, was marked also by the physical sundering of the city into its current distinct halves of Dawn and Dusk. Rye, Siebel's partner, was also among the casualties of the conflict, and his greatsword relic has since been returned to the relic chamber of Sol Sanctum.

Knowledge of the escaped Frelians and outside adventurers' involvements in the beginning of this conflict has been kept quiet to the general public in the years since. Tensions with Domiri's faithful has remained high for a time even following the official end of hostilities.
