The Creation of Further Sentient Life

After the Mana’s Ascension and the departure of many of the gods of Simuhay, some of those gods that remained began to gift the remaining non-sentient creatures with various gifts. Two of these gifts are Soul, the ability to feel as gifted by Haku, and Mind, the ability to remember as gifted by Layne.

In combination with two other gifts of similar gravity, these creatures eventually gained sentience and evolved into the multitude of species of people that now inhabit Simuhay. Of particular note are the Lycians, who did originate from Simuhay before an unknown occurrence flung them into what we know of as the Old World.

Arathans, however, were not creations of the Primordials and instead descended from great ancient Wyrms like Sago. The exact method for their creation is not known, nor is the location of their origin - whether they were made on Simuhay and sent to the Old World (accidentally or otherwise), or made as the initial inhabitants of the Old World, is still a mystery.

It is uncertain if the Primordials' gifts also gave birth to Nabatans, Lepians, Avali, and all other manner of people who currently exist. It’s possible, but it is similarly possible that each was created by their own remaining gods or higher entities in the same way that Arathans were made.
