Hearts of the Lands

A set of unfathomably powerful magical gemstones which regulate the balance of nature. Any number of natural disasters or otherwise inhospitable conditions could come to pass if anything were to happen to the Hearts. Native sentient life on Kiristym, such as the thri-kreens, hold the gemstones sacred. In the distant past, before the Shattering, the protection and management of the stones was handled by special Earthblessed who could commune with them, known as Compasses.

In order to fuel their ascension, the Mana used the deep magical wellsprings of the Hearts, leaving only what was absolutely necessary for life to persist. This callous act not only led to the Shattering, but also significantly damaged Kiristym’s climate in particular.

Vee has demonstrated an innate ability to spontaneously (but temporarily) evolve when coming into contact with any given Heart of the Land; the Heart of the Earth in particular transformed him into an entirely uncatalogued Ground-type evolution. As it turns out, this ability comes from being a Compass, and Vee is in a uniquely ideal position to seek out, retrieve, and protect the Hearts.
