Languages The various inhabitants of both the old world and Simuhay speak numerous languages. Many communities in Lycia had their own languages as well. These were virtually unknown outside the corresponding communities. Common the de facto language in old world Lycia and practically everyone spoke it, and Lycians carried this language to the new world. In Nabata, Common was a foreign language, but one that was commonly learned, especially by scholars. To make things easy, it is simply real-world English, with the English alphabet as the script. Draconic Arathans used the Draconic language (as defined in PHB), which was shared with many other dragon-like races in the Multiverse. As such, the old world had familiarity with this language, even if not many people studied it. Nabatan Nabata used their own Nabatan language. Having had a history with Lycia, the spoken Nabatan language had some similarities with Common, but centuries of independent development made it difficult to understand anything other than the most basic words. Moreover, the written script diverged widely from the Common alphabet; it instead used a phonetic alphabet that is essentially the Runic script (from the video game Tunic).
