# Appearance

Cecil is a tall, lanky coyote, with his appearance being most notable for his completely grayscale fur coat and his pie-shaped pupils. Cecil matches his gray fur with matching grayscale clothing, refusing to wear anything colorful. His snout is a light gray, with a dark gray pattern running through the top of the snout, up his face, and throughout his well-kempt hair. The tips of Cecil's fur as well as his limbs have a scratchy black pattern.

Cecil's clothing consists of a black layered armored vest, a silver engraved shoulder pauldron with embedded white crystals over his right arm, black and gray pinstripe pants, black shoulder-length gloves with an extra gray fingerless glove fitted over his left paw, and tall, black, shiny boots made of a foreign material. His armor is also covered in extra black straps, which are fitted on both legs, his left arm, and his snout. Cecil also wears basic rectangular glasses. Behind him flows a black Cloak of Billowing, embroidered with a custom insignia pattern and adorned with white crystals along its trim. The cloak activates whenever Cecil says "Cecil and the Moonshiners", allowing for grand entrances and enhancing heroic speeches in battle.

Cecil has two weapons of choice: Raven's Roost and Cold Read. Raven's Roost is a cane wand with a wooden carving of a raven perched on top. The raven used to have ruby gems for eyes, but the color was mysteriously sapped out of the rubies. Cold Read is a zweihänder with thin, sharp ice gems embedded along its edges. The gems are so cold that the sword is often enveloped in a frosty mist whenever Cecil unsheathes it from his back.

# History

Cecil Colefield was born to two unknown parents in the [Lupa capital city](https://wiki.gayrabbits.space/placeholder "Lupa"). When he was old enough to hold an instrument, Cecil was sold by his parents to [King ](https://wiki.gayrabbits.space/placeholder "King Azelin")[Azelin](https://wiki.gayrabbits.space/placeholder "King Azelin"), where he was forced to perform in the Royal Orchestra for the King. The conductor of the Royal Orchestra, an elderly fox named [Clover](https://wiki.gayrabbits.space/placeholder "Clover"), taught Cecil how to perform, and the two developed a strong bond. Both the fox and the coyote shared their discontent with their lot in life, and planned to escape from the kingdom together one day.

Cecil would spend his free time composing insulting songs about the King and escaping the walls of the palace at night to learn magic under the tutelage of [Fraxinus](https://wiki.gayrabbits.space/placeholder "Fraxinus"), an ancient black dragon that guarded the outskirts of Lupa under coercion of King Azelin. As the years went by, Cecil grew to be a standout member of the Royal Orchestra, drawing increased scrutiny from the King.

One night, King Azelin's guards raided Cecil's living quarters and found the scores of [rebellious music](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvJjmWTg7Qo "Rebellious Music") Cecil had penned privately. Confronting the orchestra, Clover took the blame for the manuscripts in order to protect Cecil from punishment. He was then sentenced to execution that night for the crimes of sedition and treason. Before the execution could be carried out, Clover looked at Cecil, who heard the fox's voice in his head: "Come and find me." With those words, Clover disappeared in a puff of smoke from the executioner's stand. During the ensuing chaos in the search for Clover, Cecil was able to escape the kingdom with the help of Fraxinus, leaving everything behind. The dragon and coyote parted ways after Fraxinus carried Cecil far enough away from Lupa to be safe.

For the rest of his life before [the Cleaving](https://wiki.gayrabbits.space/cleaving "The Cleaving"), Cecil lived as a busker, traveling from town to town with nothing but the clothes on his back and the lute in his hands. Cecil never found much success as a musician, barely scraping by night after night; however, he always found time to flirt with the locals, which got him kicked out of more than one town. Throughout his travels, he would encounter a few interesting characters as well, including [Barley](https://wiki.gayrabbits.space/placeholder "Barley"), a surly deer street musician who would follow Cecil to steal his crowds, and an [unnamed red panda cobbler](https://wiki.gayrabbits.space/placeholder "X") who saved Cecil from being arrested and gifted him new clothes.

After the Cleaving, Cecil washed up on the shores of what would eventually become the small town of [Oceanside](https://wiki.gayrabbits.space/placeholder "Oceanside"). He aided in the development of the new town and became a celebrity within the community through his charm and musical talent.

# The Moon Will Sing

Cecil's journey began in [Oceanside](https://wiki.gayrabbits.space/placeholder "Oceanside"), when the associate of the [Syndrian](https://wiki.gayrabbits.space/placeholder "Syndrian Trade Company")[ Trade Company](https://wiki.gayrabbits.space/placeholder "Syndrian Trade Company") in Oceanside, Rem, enlisted the help of local adventurers to deal with a [death dog](https://www.dndbeyond.com/monsters/16838-death-dog "Death Dog") that had begun terrorizing the small town. During this job, Cecil met [Vex](https://wiki.gayrabbits.space/placeholder "Vex"), a white beast who would eventually become Cecil's lifelong partner. Once the two dealt with the monster and after being rewarded for their efforts, Cecil and Vex decided to adventure into this new and unfamiliar world together.

Departing west from Oceanside, the first stop the adventurers made was [Wyrwood,](https://wiki.gayrabbits.space/Wyrwood "Wyrwood") a small village populated entirely by [Lepians](https://wiki.gayrabbits.space/Lepians "Lepians"). Despite not speaking the language of the local population, Cecil entered a musical duel with the local talent. After the competition, Cecil spent the rest of his stay teaching a young boy how to perfect his lute playing.

While traveling north from the village, Cecil and Vex discovered a lake with treasure at the bottom of it. Their spoils included an old sword, which, upon resting overnight, had mysteriously de-rusted. As the two ventured on the coast, Vex heard the sword ask him: "Why won't you use me?", prompting him to throw the sword into the ocean with no hesitation.

On their way to the next town, the pair of adventurers decided to explore a large hole in the earth that led to an underground sanctuary of some kind. Long-since abandoned and pillaged, the two searched for any sort of valuable information or treasure until they came across a demolished door, marked by [7 claw streaks](https://2e.aonprd.com/Monsters.aspx?ID=1041 "Voidglutton") across it. Investigating further, the two descended even deeper into the earth before coming across an empty room. However, Vex was able to spot an inscription written in Abyssal; reading the inscription brought Vex and Cecil even further below to a hidden antechamber, which contained only two things: a small pool of water contained in a stone structure, and a [twisted black knife](https://wiki.gayrabbits.space/TheKeytoProvidence "The Key to Providence") suspended above it in the ceiling. Cecil, not wanting to leave empty-handed, loosened the knife from its moors with a rope, thinking the knife would look stylish with the rest of his black and gray ensemble. With nothing else of interest in the antechamber, the two finished exploring and continued onward to the next settlement.
